Global Steak Knife Review

A Global Steak Knife is great for cutting steak with, especially if you are already a fan of Global Knives.  Sure, it may seem like they are expensive and a steak knife is a steak knife.  However, the from the factory sharpness and excellent edge retention of a Global Steak Knife can really make it a worthwhile investment.  Also, a Global Steak Knife is not just great for cutting steak, but it is great for using to cut through other meats such as pork chops and roasts.

Not only does the sharpness of a Global Steak Knife help make it easy to cut steak, but the molded and dimpled solid handle also helps.  Some may be used to the hollow sand balanced handles Global Knives are know for, but the solid handle design is still a well-balanced knife.  Plus, you still get the molded and dimpled aspects that help make the knife feel like an extension of your hand and reduce the chance of the knife slipping in/from your hand.  Thus, the Global Steak Knife is not just great for cutting steak due to it sharpness, but it is also comfortable to use and can reduce the effort it takes to cut steak.

The Global Steak Knife also has a thin blade. The thin blade helps make the knife lighter.  This makes it easier and more effortless to handle as well as  assists in making more precise cuts.  The blade is also seamless with the handle, which makes it more lightweight by eliminating the need for bolsters.  The seamless design also helps make the knife more sanitary as it eliminates the major food trap where blades are connected to handles.

Each Global Steak Knife is made of a high-tech molybdenum/vanadium stainless steel.  The molybdenum/vanadium help make the knives stay sharp longer by providing excellent edge retention.

The serrated blade on a Global Steak Knife makes it easier to cut through steak.  However, it also can make it difficult to sharpen the steak knife without ruining the serration.  Since the knife comes sharp and has excellent edge retention, it is still superior to inferior designed steak knives because they also are serrated, but they do not stay sharp and effective as long as a Global Knife.  Lastly, you can if really necessary try sharpening a Global Steak Knife with a ceramic or diamond steel along with a whetstone or water wheel sharpener, which are great to have on hand for non-serrated kitchen knife sharpening anyways.  Due to the knife being ground to a more acute angle, the sharpening if ever needed might be more effective on a Global Steak Knife than a typical steak knife.
